While Katy ISD is a well equipped school district with amazing school buildings and a multitude of clubs and resources to excel (especially in college), I am slightly disappointed. I admit, as someone who used to attend international private schools until the 11th grade, I have high expectations, however there are enough people who care about this school district so it is definitely capable. The students at this school are solely motivated by extrinsic goals such as grades, resumes, and college. Some are dedicated and push themselves to burnout as they commit hours afterschool and pull all nighters! Some really could not care less. I've never seen a school where this disparity is so wide. I believe what would significantly improve this school is if there was a sense of unity and community restored. The kids needs something to care about past superficial things. If teachers cared more about the world and social causes and united the kids, I think we could have global citizens.

The best part of Katy ISD is it has a driven college readiness. My general education child was able to apply and get accepted to college immediately after high school graduation. Unfortunately, the worst part, some of the principal administration and some of the teachers were toxic; some were not welcoming or helpful. The best part for elementary schools, was fantastic for my child with special needs. The worst party, for junior high was that they put much pressure on the students, academically, and were not very flexible with their student schedules.
