There are 2 to choose from there is one just outside Haines city on the US27 or their is one at cagans crossing again on the US27 just past the junction of the US27 and the 192.
They are both roughly the same distance from Champions gate.

Ah I miss Cagan's crossing Walmart!
To get there from Champion's World, turn left out of the hotel, stay on the 530, (You'll go past Publix on your right) and then take the first exit for the 27, do not go under the bridge. Once you are on the 27, keep an eye out for KFC, Burger King and a petrol station on the right, and then turn right at the lights - you should be able to see Walmart ahead to your right.
10 months later and I still remember the way - can you tell I spent most nights after the parks there?!? :D:o:

I always use Publix for our grocery shopping and stop off at the one at Championsgate on the way to our villa. I much prefer the bread in Publix and to be honest it is no where near as busy as Walmart and I can quickly just dash roudn and get everything we need. We do go to Walmart for other shopping and then just pick up the odd grocery items.

I'm the same as Michelle and always go to Publix for grocery shopping; it's a much smaller shop but always seems to be well stocked. The staff seem more friendly than Walmart too. Having said that, if you're looking for anything that isn't food then Walmart it is, or Target! :d:

Cagen crossings is around 10 miles from champions gate and the Haines city walmart is around 12 miles
Of the two I prefer the cagen crossings walmart it is a newer store and it seems more geared up for the tourist, the walmart at tower lake haines city seemed more like a store that the locals used and just didnt seem as nice
If I was going food shopping would I drive past publix to get to walmart No think walmart = Asda and publix = waitrose, publix is a lot more expensive than walmart but I prefer the quality of the fresh veg meat deli and bakery items in Publix
I always go to walmart just for the experience but for all our food shopping we use Publix

Personally I wouldn't drive past Publix just to go to Walmart, especially for that first night. While we do go to Walmart, we prefer Publix as OPs say, and also find Target a good option as well.

Another vote for Publix - a far nicer experience!
