It’s not every day you dispatch nearly 3000 straws of beef sem*n to only 3 clients - It’s awesome to see the value we offer being recognised by industry leading farmers. These clients are seeing the benefits of that “Team Gerry” approach to higher conception rates from multiple sires, the flow on effects of a highly saught after calf and unrivalled beef performance in the paddock, all stemming from this Gerry line of genetics.Kakahu Gerry is the Dairy Beef Progeny Test(DBPT) across cohort leader for:- 200 day weight- 400 day weight- 600 day weight- carcass weightTo view our breed leading beef sem*n offering head to:https://lnkd.in/ejrCP4e5for more information phone Ben on 0277666668 or go to:www.genez.co.nz

Something to ponder this morning……It will be 3 more years before the beef industry is able to maximise the performance potential of today’s absolutely elite beef sires. As dairy farmers you have an opportunity to influence the profitability of your neighbourhood beef farmers hugely.Beef + Lamb New Zealand data from the DBPT shows that truely elite genetics have the potential to add over 20% to the carcass weight of resulting cattle when compared with lesser performing cattle. This Video shows arguably the best performance Hereford bull sold this season.Winston was sold for $18,500 to Koanui Herefords in the Hawkes Bay, who will then breed sons from him for wider use.To access these performance genetics for a fraction of the price of when these genetics are available to beef on beef farmers, head to:https://lnkd.in/ejrCP4e5Learn more at www.genez.co.nzVisit us at site PE 42 in the main pavilion at the mystery creek Fieldays.

Pushing innovation for A.I. Mating of beef on dairy.Collars and wearables are creating opportunities to tailor animals for performance beef systems and premium programmes.Today we started our Fresh Multi Sire sem*n trial on a large scale dairy farm in the Waikato. We will compare the conception rate performance of our Fresh “Conception Plus Performance Charolais” with frozen straws of the same product, along with frozen single sire charolais straws from Silverstream Sonic S41 dispatched from Animal Breeding Services (2007) Ltd. The fresh multi sire straws are delivered on farm every 3 days after our testing confirmed sem*n viability well past this point.Multi sire beef straws are used very widely in overseas markets in order to gain a possible conception rate advantage of between 3-5%Genez has chosen to use “Kakahu Gerry” genetics for its multi sire product, with 3 related bulls including Gerry himself carrying his elite beef performance.Kakahu Gerry is the all time across cohort leader in the Dairy Beef Progeny Test(DBPT) from Beef + Lamb New Zealand for multiple traits.Of more than 200 bulls tested over 9 years of the DBPT, Gerry leads them all for the following traits:200 day weight.400 day weight.600 day weight.Carcass weight.Check out our 2024 beef sire catalogue at:https://lnkd.in/ejrCP4e5Or head to our website www.genez.co.nzCome see us in the main pavilion at the Fieldays site PE42 at mystery creek.

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending the dairy beef focused open day at Owl Farm near Cambridge.Key points from the excellent group of presenters:Dr Rebecca Hickson - 72 kgs of carcass weight variation between the 200 elite bulls tested in the 9 years of the Dairy Beef Progeny Test run by beef and lamb Nz.Bob Thompson- beef farmers cant afford to farm poorly performing beef animals, with up to $450 per head difference in performance apparent!

Tom is one of New Zealands leading suppliers of Charolais and Angus genetics to the dairy industry, his bulls have proven to be outstanding in the Dairy Beef Progeny Test(DBPT) this has proved that focusing on valued traits, does deliver outstanding performance. This video, while made with beef cow herds in mind, shows the finanacial effects that focusing on these traits can have. The great thing for us as dairy farmers, is that through Artificial Insemination we can select these absolutely elite performance genetics for widespread use, having massive effects on not just profitability on dairy and beef farms, but also environmental impacts, through less time on the land!We are marketing the leading bull in the current cohort of the DBPT- Kakahu Project- he has outstanding performance across a large range of traits within the Angus breed:Short Gestation- top 1% -277.9 days on dairyCalving ease - top 7%400 day growth - top 14%Eye muscle area - top 16%Carcass weight - top 25%We also market several Kakahu Charolais sires.Head to www.genez.co.nz to check out our catalogue or sires available for dairy beef that really performs.https://lnkd.in/gm8-stjP?

Adding value through R & D.Friday saw our first trial groups of antibiotic free Charolais x calves weaned off milk at 8.5-9 weeks old, at an avg weight of 92kgs. They have grown like mushrooms on the specifically formulated batch of Ancalf supplied by NZAgbiz and the Calf Max meal supplied by Seales Winslow, also specifically formulated without Coccidiostat.Growth rates have been exceptional across all three treatment groups totalling 72 calves . We are extremely grateful for the knowledge and support of Julie and Carla from NZAgbiz and Simon and Ryan from Seales Winslow.AB free rearing is the first hurdle we need to cover off in order to gain access to premiums for dairy beef.

We partner with an incredible group of stud breeders that have been mating there yearling hfrs for decades in order to entrench calving ease into there breeding programmes. Across all beef breeds, we searched New Zealand wide for the perfect mix of calving ease, growth and carcass traits for dairy beef. These breeders are the same elite breeders where beef farmers source their seed stock, we know that this association helps create market demand for dairy beef from our sires.Check out our range of sires at a level not seen before in AI for NZ:https://lnkd.in/ejrCP4e5To order head to:www.genez.co.nz
